私と「第九」との関係（つながり）はとても特別なものです。
この曲をブルノ・フィルと演奏した直後、私はそのオーケストラのアシスタント・コンダクターの座を得ることができました。私が２９歳の時です。そしてそれは２年後、３１歳の時に、音楽監督の座を得ることにつながっていきました。３１歳での⾳楽監督就任は、この有名なオーケストラの歴史の中でも最年少での就任でした。ブルノ・フィルとの大切な関係を築くきっかけとなった曲です。

この世界に、この素晴らしい作品を愛さない指揮者は存在しないでしょう。私はこの交響曲を、全ての⼤陸で指揮したと思います。
そして、私は、日本で特別にこの名作が愛されていることを幸せに感じています。

年末、日本で「第九」は世界のほかのどの国でよりも頻繁に演奏されています。
クリスマスの時期に東京都交響楽団とこの交響曲を演奏する機会に恵まれることを⼼から幸せに感じています。
都響ファンの皆さんとお会いできることを楽しみにしています。

My relation to Beethoven’s 9th Symphony is really exceptional.
To this composition I have really personal relation for that reason,because I got the position of Assistant Conductor of Brno Philharmonic Orchestra just after performing this Symphony. I was 29 years old conducter and I became Music Director of this Orchestra 2 years later at the age of 31 years and I became the youngest Music Director of this famous orchestra in the whole history.

I think, it’s no conductor in the whole world who doesn’t love this fantastic composition.
I conducted this symphony practically in all continents and I am very very happy, that especially in Japan is this masterpiece so popular.
In the period before Christmas, I think, that in Japan this symphony is the most frequent composition on the concerts comparing the rest of the world.
So I am very happy, that I was invited by the famous TMSO for performing this symphony on three concerts in Tokyo in Christmas time.
