2019年11月23日のマエストロ・インバル、東京都交響楽団との演奏会（プロムナードコンサート　No.384）をとても楽しみにしており、心が躍ります！
私は、マエストロ大野指揮2019年1月10日の演奏会（第872回 定期演奏会Aシリーズ）を聴き、都響の素晴らしい、生き生きした響きに大変感動しました。
このオーケストラと共演できる日が待ちきれません！

演奏会ではラフマニノフの《パガニーニの主題による狂詩曲》を演奏します。
ラフマニノフは、信じられないほど熟練した詩的なピアニストでもあり、作曲家自身がこの曲を1934年11月7日、ボルティモアでフィラデルフィア管弦楽団、レオポルド・ストコフスキー指揮で初演しました。　
この作品は、ピアノとオーケストラのための最もエキサイティングな名作の一つで、弾き甲斐のある曲です。

パガニーニの《無伴奏ヴァイオリンのための24のカプリス》第24番の主題と24の変奏から成る単一楽章の作品です。
この主題は、ブラームスやリスト等の作品にも影響を与え、人々を魅了したパガニーニの華やかで伝説的な卓越したテクニックが反映されています。
そして、24の変奏には、悪魔的なピチカート、神秘的な暗闇、同時に英雄的、甘美なひと時など、多種多様な曲調やキャラクターが含まれています。
曲は次第に緊張と加速を増していき、最後はピアノからの一種のウインクと微笑で終わります。

私はこの演奏会をとても楽しみにしています。大きな喜びの瞬間になることでしょう。

I am thrilled to be performing with the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra next 23rd of November under the guidance of Maestro Inbal, in Suntory Hall.
I have heard this wonderful orchestra last January in a stunning concert with Busoni, Mahler (with Ian Bostridge) and Prokofiev conducted by Maestro ONO.
Such a wonderful and organic sound!
It was a very inspiring concert and I cannot wait to come back and play with this great orchestra.
I will be performing Rachmaninov‘s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, Op. 43. 85 Rachmaninov, who was also an unbelievably skilled and poetic pianist, premiered it himself on November 7th 1934 in Baltimore, with the Philadelphia Orchestra and Leopold Stokowski.
this is one of the most exciting concerti for piano and orchestra, and it is great fun to play.
It is a series of 24 variations preceded by an introduction in one single movement based on Niccolò Paganini‘s Capriccio for violin n 24, a theme that inspired other composers (Brahms, Liszt for example)for their own compositions. It somehow reflects Paganini‘s own legendary virtuoso skills, as it is flamboyant and very compelling.
These variations contain a wide variety of moods and characters, with diabolic pizzicati, misterious dark, but also heroic and the most tender moments.
The Rhapsody ends in a growing and increasing tension and accelerando. It very funnily ends with a sort of wink and smile from the piano.
I am very much looking forward to this concert, it will be a moment of big joy.
